At the invitation of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zhu Yongbiao, Dean of the School of Politics and International Relations of Lanzhou University and Executive Director of the Center for Belt and Road Studies, and Liu Huiying, assistant researcher of the Center for Belt and Road Studies of Lanzhou University and coordinator of the Central Asia Program, went to Tajikistan from June 21 to 25 to participate in international conferences and carry out field research and academic exchanges. On June 22, Zhu Yongbiao and his delegation visited the Confucius Institute at Tajikistan University for Nationalities, during which the two sides had full discussions and exchanges on future cooperation.
On June 23, Zhu Yongpiao and his delegation had in-depth discussions with the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on China-Tajikistan relations, the security situation in Tajikistan, and the development plan. Accompanied by Usmenzoda, Director General of the Center, they visited the Nurek Hydropower Station, a water conservancy hub for the comprehensive utilization of power generation, irrigation and shipping in Tajikistan.
On June 24, Zhu Yongbiao and his delegation attended the international conference with the theme "Tajikism-China: Current Situation and Prospects of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the New Era". Usmenzoda, Director General of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, Azamshuo, Assistant to the President of Tajikistan for Foreign Affairs, and Ji Shumin, Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan, attended and addressed the meeting. "Council Committee on International Affairs, Public Alliances and Information", "Council Committee on Energy, Industry, Construction and Communications", Ministry of Education, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Agriculture, More than 60 dignitaries and scholars from China and Tajikistan, including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Institute of International Studies, Shanghai Institute of International Studies, Northwest University and Confucius Institute of Tajikistan University for Nationalities, participated in the conference online and offline. Zhu Yongbiao delivered a keynote speech entitled "The Foundation of China-Tajikistan Cooperation and Future Priorities" and Liu Huiying delivered a report entitled "Achievements and Prospects of China-Tajikistan People-to-people Exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative".
During the meeting, Zhu Yongbiao briefed Ji Shumin, Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan, on Lanzhou University's academic research, think tank construction and international exchanges in the field of Tajikistan in recent years.
In order to promote the deepening and solid bilateral relations, Zhu Yongbiao, on behalf of Lanzhou University and the Strategic Research Center under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Lanzhou University of China and the Strategic Research Center under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in Dushanbe on June 24, and the two sides reached preliminary intentions on the main areas of cooperation in the future and the work to be carried out jointly. This visit further strengthened the academic ties between Lanzhou University and major institutions in Tajikistan and laid the foundation for further exchanges and cooperation in the future. During the visit, Zhu Yongbiao and his delegation also received attention and coverage from major Tajik media.
