On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Central Asian Studies of Lanzhou University, "The 30th Anniversary of the Institute of Central Asian Studies of Lanzhou University and the 22nd Academic Seminar on Central Asian Issues" was held on June 15 at Chengguan Campus. The conference was organized by the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of Central Asian Studies of Lanzhou University, the Institute of International Strategic Studies of Peking University, the Institute of Central Asian Studies of Shaanxi Normal University, the Center for Russian Studies and Kazakhstan Studies of East China Normal University, and the Institute of Central Asian Studies of Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences. The opening ceremony was held on the morning of the 15th. Sha Yongzhong, Vice President of Lanzhou University, Wu Yingqin, Executive Director of China-Central Asia Mechanism Secretariat, Li Qi, Director of Central Asian Studies Institute of Shaanxi Normal University, Shi LAN, Director of Central Asian Studies Institute of Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences, and Yang Shu, director of Central Asian Studies Institute of Lanzhou University delivered speeches respectively. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhu Yongbiao, dean of the School of Politics and International Relations.
Sha Yongzhong, on behalf of the university, welcomed and thanked all the experts, scholars and guests attending the conference. Wu Yingqin stressed in her speech that think tank exchanges are of great significance to promoting policy communication and people-to-people exchanges between China and Central Asian countries. He put forward a number of suggestions on deepening the study of Central Asia, and said that the Secretariat of the China-Central Asia Mechanism is willing to strengthen contacts and communication with all walks of life and contribute wisdom to jointly building a closer China-Central Asia community of common destiny.
In his speech, Li Qi congratulated Lanzhou University on the 30th anniversary of its Central Asian Studies Institute and paid tribute to the older generation of scholars who have laid a solid disciplinary foundation. She believes that Central Asian scholars have always conducted academic research and exploration with a highly responsible and rigorous academic attitude, and are committed to offering suggestions for building a China-Central Asia community of shared future.
In her speech, Shi LAN put forward suggestions to strengthen the development of Central Asian studies and disciplines, including further strengthening exchanges and cooperation, continuing to promote discipline construction, adhering to innovation, etc., and looked forward to the Institute of Central Asian Studies of Lanzhou University and the Central Asian seminar mechanism to play a greater role in China's future research on Central Asian issues.
In his speech, Yang Shu said that since its establishment 30 years ago, the Institute of Central Asian Studies has always adhered to the problem-oriented, the combination of regional advantages and national needs, the combination of theoretical research and policy consultation, and the combination of scientific research and talent training, paid close attention to the development and changes of the international and regional situations, and constantly expanded the research direction. This symposium further enhanced the cohesion of the academic Community of Central Asian Studies in China, and provided new ideas and explored new directions for Central Asian studies from the perspective of regional and national studies.
