In order to expand inter-university exchanges and cooperation, enhance the internationalization level of the school, and further strengthen communication and exchanges with experts and scholars in Central Asia, at the invitation of the State School of Administration directly under the President of Tajikistan, Professor Jiao Yiqiang, Associate Professor Wei Jinshen, Associate Professor Zhang Yuyan, Associate Professor Sun Xiuwen and Professor Ding Shuqin of the School of Foreign Languages from the School of Politics and International Relations and the Institute of Central Asian Studies, together with a delegation of five members, visited Tajikistan from November 13 to 18 for academic exchange. During their stay in Tajikistan, the delegation visited the National Academy of Administration of the President of Tajikistan, the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, the Confucius Institute of the University of Nationalities of Tajikistan, the Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan and the Representative Office of China Hydropower Corporation in Tajikistan, and had in-depth and extensive exchanges and discussions on relevant academic issues and inter-university cooperation.
On the 14th, all the members of the delegation were invited to participate in a round table academic conference and related activities on the theme "Emomali Rahmon's role in the creation and development of the SCO" organized by the State Administration Academy of the President of Tajikistan (Shanghai Cooperation Organization Friendship and Cooperation Center) in commemoration of the Tajik President's Day.
On the 15th, the delegation met with President of the State Administration Academy of the President of Tajikistan Gaafurzoda and head of the foreign affairs Department of the University on strengthening academic exchanges and cooperation between Lanzhou University and the State Administration Academy of the President of Tajikistan. The discussions included setting up research centers in the universities of both sides, establishing Chinese test centers in the Presidential Administration College of Tajikistan, and exchanging teachers and students. After the talks with the President of the Tajik Presidential School of Administration, the delegation visited the SCO Research Center, the Tajik Presidential School of Administration, the Tajik School of Diplomacy and Politics and other academic research and teaching institutions, and had in-depth exchanges with Tajik experts and scholars on such topics as the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and issues in Central Asia.
On the morning of the 16th, the delegation visited the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, He has held in-depth and extensive discussions and exchanges with experts and scholars from the TCAS, the Institute of Philosophy, the Asia-Europe Institute, the Institute of History, the Institute of Economics and Population Research and other research institutions on academic issues such as regional development in Central Asia, geopolitics, economic and security situation, the "Belt and Road" and China-TCAS cooperative relations under the framework of the SCO. At the same time, they also exchanged views on how to develop cooperation between TCAS and our university.
On the afternoon of the 16th, the delegation visited the Confucius Institute of Tajikistan University for Nationalities and had in-depth exchanges with the Chinese director of the Confucius Institute and Chinese language teachers on the current situation of Chinese language teaching in Tajikistan and the experience of Confucius Institutes in running schools.
On October 17, before returning home, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan and exchanged views with Chinese Ambassador Ji Shumin and officials from the Political and Education sections of the Embassy on the situation in Central Asia, the current situation in Tajikistan, China-Tajikistan relations as well as people-to-people and cultural education exchanges and cooperation between China and Tajikistan.
As a close neighbor of China, Central Asia occupies a very important position in the layout of China's border security and neighboring diplomacy, and is a key node and core region in the construction of the "Belt and Road". Through this field academic visit and exchange to Tajikistan, the members of the delegation have a certain degree of personal experience of Tajikistan's national and social conditions, broaden the scholars' research horizons to a certain extent, and establish and broaden certain external academic exchange and contact channels for the Central Asian studies of our university, which is conducive to improving the international level of our school. In particular, it has a very important positive role and significance for promoting the level of Central Asian studies in our university and serving the major strategic needs of the country.
