Prof. Wang Jinguo led more than 10 people to attend the 21st Seminar on Central Asia

From October 13 to 14, the 21st Seminar on Central Asian Issues, organized by the Institute of Central Asian Studies of Shaanxi Normal University and the Center for Uzbekistan Studies, was held in the multi-function Hall on the second floor of Qixia Garden, Yanta Campus. Professor Wang Jinguo, Professor Wang Sihai, Professor Zeng Xianghong, Young Researcher Chen State, Associate Professor Wei Jinshen, Associate Professor Sun Xiuwen and more than ten graduate students of our college attended the meeting. The symposium on Central Asia is the first offline event in five years. The opening ceremony of the seminar was presided over by Prof. Li Qi, Director of the Institute of Central Asian Studies, Shaanxi Normal University. Prof. Yang Zupei, Vice President of Shaanxi Normal University, and Prof. Sun Zhuangzhi, Director of the Institute of Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered opening speeches.

Leaders of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee Publicity Department, Shaanxi Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission and other functional departments attended the meeting. From the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Development Research Center of The State Council, China Institute of International Studies, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, East China Normal University, Lanzhou University, Gansu International Friendship Association, Shanghai International Studies University, Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Shaanxi Academy of Social Sciences, Northwest University, Xi 'an Foreign Countries More than 100 experts and scholars from Chinese Language University, Northwest University for Nationalities, Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences, Xinjiang University, Xinjiang Normal University, Shihezi University and other research institutes and universities jointly participated in the seminar. The conference was divided into eight agendas. Participants discussed the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the latest situation in Central Asia, Central Asia from multiple perspectives, diplomacy and cooperation, non-traditional security, and Central Asia from the cultural perspective. This seminar coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and the successful holding of the China-Central Asia Summit in 2023. The participating experts and scholars focus on the social economy and culture of the Central Asian countries, domestic and neighboring ethnic issues, international diplomacy and other fields, based on the time-space interlaced vision and adopt a cross-scientific perspective. A comprehensive discussion is made on the hot issues concerned by the current academic circles. The symposium had a lively discussion, with experts and scholars actively exchanging academic views and actively discussing controversial topics, fully demonstrating the enlightening significance of the academic conference. Professor Li Qi, Director of Central Asian Studies Institute, Shaanxi Normal University, presided over the closing ceremony. Xu Tao, Deputy Director of the Central Asia Research Office of the Eurasian Social Development Institute of the Development Research Center of The State Council; Li Zhenli, Deputy director of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and Professor Wang Jinguo, Dean of the School of Politics and International Relations of Lanzhou University and Deputy director of the Institute of Central Asian Studies, summarized the meeting in turn. Director Li Qi fully affirmed and thanked all the experts and scholars present at the conference for their speeches and contributions to the Central Asian academic community, and expressed his expectations for the activities that the academic community will continue to carry out in the future.
