In order to help undergraduates in the School of Politics and International Relations better understand the current employment situation and related employment information, our Research and Practice Department invited Associate Professor Wei Jinshen to give an analysis and guidance session on the employment situation for students at 15:00 on 8 May. The session was held online and was hosted by Li You from the Department of Research and Practice.
Firstly, Mr Wei took the development of the discipline of political science as a starting point, briefly explaining the historical evolution of the discipline of political science, and giving an overview of the establishment of the discipline, its institutions and the training of professional talents. He also introduced the disciplinary establishment of political science as well as the development of China's international relations and its research focus. This enabled the students to have a general understanding of their major and to build up a basic framework, laying a good theoretical foundation for the subsequent analysis of the employment situation.
After introducing the development of the discipline, Mr Wei Jinshen focused on the employment situation of political science majors. He combined the school's employment analysis report and compared the data of 2020 with that of 2019, so that students could have a more intuitive feeling of the current diversified situation of graduates' destinations. Mr Wei then went on to analyse the factors that influence graduates' choice of future path from the perspective of region, type of employment company and employment situation in theschool. The students were able to gain a deeper understanding of the employment situation.
Finally, Mr. Wei answered the questions of the participants and shared his experience.
Mr Wei Jinshen's guidance on the development of the political science discipline and the employment situation of political science majors helped the students to gain an in-depth understanding of the current employment situation of political science. This not only gave the students more experience to draw on in their future life, but also had a positive impact on the students' choice of future paths, helping to strengthen their confidence and beliefs towards a better future.
