At the invitation of Institute for Central Asia Studies and School of Politics and International Relations of Lanzhou University, Professor Chen Zhirui, executive editor of Foreign Affairs Review, visited our Institute on April 28, 2021 and held a lecture entitled "Academic Writing Exchange and Sharing Meeting". Professor Chen Xiaoding, Professor Zeng Xianghong, Jiao Yiqiang and Li Jie, associate professors Ma Guolin, Wei Jinshen, Xiao Han and sun Xiuwen, young researchers of Chen Yazhou, Dr. sang Pu, Dr. Liang Zhenpeng, Dr. mi Pengju and Dr. Jin Xiaozhe, as well as some students from our school and the School of Marxism attended the meeting.
At the beginning, Professor Chen Xiaoding, extended a warm welcome to Professor Chen Zhirui and gave a brief introduction to the basic situation of the Institute. Then, Professor Chen Zhirui gave a brief explanation of Foreign Affairs Review's purpose and scope of topics, especially introduced the academic writing method of combining small cases with large narratives through "framing".
Since then, Professor Chen Zhirui together with our teachers and students had in-depth analysis and discussion on the following issues, like Central Asian countries issue, the Arctic issue, the foreign policy of Biden government, the reform of the World Health Organization, the evolution of the hegemonic system of the United States, the energy agenda setting, and the non-traditional security issues in the post epidemic era and so on. Finally, Professor Chen Zhirui answered some doctoral students' puzzles and questions about their thesis topics.
Professor Chen Zhirui's unique academic views on relevant issues have aroused in-depth thinking and discussion between teachers and students which is helpful to improve the academic writing level of teachers and students.
