Abstract:On May 8, 2021, the EU and India agreed to restart free trade agreement negotiations and issued a joint statement. The restart of the EU-India Free Trade Agreement is the result of bilateral political needs. The EU has built a diversified supply chain and opened up Asian markets, India has passed on domestic contradictions and opened up the European market, and the bilateral "jointly confronted China" and other factors have worked together. At present, the restart of the EU-India Free Trade Agreement is facing difficulties in coordinating market access issues, India's domes‐ tic trade protectionism is prevailing, and the EU's hope that India will replace China is slim, and the prospects are not optimistic. The restart of the EU-India Free Trade Agreement not only affects China's development in overseas mar‐ kets, but also hinders the advancement of the "Belt and Road" initiative, making China-EU and China-India eco‐ nomic and trade cooperation more complicated.
