Professor Zhu Yongbiao Expressed his Views on Situation in Afghanistan Recently

Author:      From:      Hits:

Due to the hasty withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan by the United States, Europe and other countries, the situation in Afghanistan has undergone major changes since 2001. Professor Zhu Yongbiao, with a long-term focus on Afghanistan, has been interviewed by the media at home and abroad and analyzed the situation in Afghanistan in depth, which will help deepen our understanding of the situation in Afghanistan. Professor Zhu Yongbiao's main views on the situation in Afghanistan are sorted out as follows for readers.

Professor Zhu Yongbiao believes that the rapid collapse of the Afghan government is the result of a combination of many factors, three of which are particularly critical. First, America's irresponsible withdrawal policy plays a key role. It has seriously hit the morale of the Afghan government forces and made them lose their operational objectives and will. Secondly, the Taliban's comprehensive strategy has achieved success and formed a good demonstration effect. For example, in the first few provincial cities that they had controlled, the Taliban did not take extreme action, which made the local people felt that the Taliban was more moderate, and other cities accepted the Taliban gradually. Thirdly, the effects of intolerance within the Afghan government is evident. After taking office, Ghani not only aggressively attacked his biggest competitor, Abdullah, but also desperately weakened the power of the former "Northern Alliance". Although Ghani government attacked many people, it failed to weaken the Taliban, leaving them with little resistance along the way.

He also thinks that the Taliban will face much more difficulties than the collapsed Afghan government in the future, and the counter-terrorism situation in Afghanistan remains grim.
