On December 19, the opening ceremony and plenary session of the Third Conference of the CICA Non-Government Forum hosted by Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, co-organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and hosted by the People’s Government of Chongqing Municipality was held in Chongqing Yuzhou Hotel. More than 300 domestic and foreign guests, including former political figures, experts and scholars and media representatives attended the meeting. Associate Professor Wei Jinshen of our School was invited to the meeting and gave a speech entitled "Institutional Design for the Inter-connection of Europe and Asia and the Construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt".

CICA is an important security dialogue and cooperation mechanism in Asia. At present, there are 27 member states including Russia, South Korea, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, Egypt, India, and 13 observer countries and international organizations such as Japan, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

The conference aims to build a network for the people-to-people exchanges that support all parties, aligning with the conference’s theme of “Building an Asian Community of Shared Destiny.”The establishment of the CICA Non-Governmental Forum is an important initiative launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the CICA Shanghai Summit, 2014.
